In Fall of 65 I moved to Hawaii  to attend UH, and shortly afterwards married an Englishman named Hamilton. He was part owner of a top 40 rock radio station, and for a great many years we spent 5-6 weeks a year  in England both in London and in Pangbourne, in the Green Belt west of The City, on the Thames.  During this time I become a real estate broker, which I remain to this day.

In the 80's I fell in love with Les Murray - a kama'aina - securing my resolve to remain in Hawaii. He is also part Hawaiian, which has opened up many new experiences and insights to me.  Les had two children - Stacia, aged 9 and Ryan, 7, whose mother had moved back home to the East coast when they divorced in 1983.  This single father of two and his adorable kids were all kolohe ( rascally ) and a handful!  Les tells me to this day that if they had been easy, I would have gotten bored and moved on, AND that all 3 considered it their brief to hold onto me by making life interesting!  Yeah, right!

Over the years  I have seen Janet De Smet twice-- once in New York and once here in Hawaii.    I hoped to attend the 50th  reunion, but cannot get away at this time

In view of this assignment, I am reminiscing about Yokohama. My memories include spending a lot of time in Sankie-en Gardens,  Saturday mornings at the German Bakery on Motomachi, movies at the Bill Chickering , Rainbow Girls meetings at the Masonic Lodge up on the Bluff,  the Hotel New Grand bar,  Silk Hotel Lounge, Wien Coffee shop, Chrysler Bar, and Miami.  Also Chinatown, and lots of forays into Tokyo.   It was a great time and I am happy to think back on the fun I had.
