Hello classmates...I don't know about you..but I don't feel 50 years older!  I am looking forward to our reunion, just hope my memory of all the fun times we had together doesn't fail me?  Good thing we all look just  the same..right,?  It will be easy to meet and great that way, right..we will have name tags I hope?. I have to admit I finally found my old Yo-Hi annual and I am studying it daily...ha! anyway this is my life for the last 50 years..WOW

After leaving Japan, my father was stationed at Treasure Island in the San Francisco Bay and we settled into the Walnut Creek, Concord area north of San Francisco where I attended a community college and received my liscense in the dental field. I then met my first husband Bob Wetherholt on a blind date thru Janet Desmet and her date John and Bob and I were married and had two sons,Mike and Scott. Bob was a teacher/football coach at Mt View Hi School and after a few years we decided to move to the Calif Desert and join my families Real Estate business. We had our third son Jeff. We both received our real estate liscenses and through a couple of stressful years , decided to divorce.  I then found myself with three young children and decided to go back to school and received my nursing degree. After a few years as a single mom I was fortunate to meet and marry Ron Smith a general contractor and we have a daughter named Sara. We will be happily celebrating  30yrs of marriage this November.

I can actually say Ron and I have been living in 29 Palms Calif for 40 years. 29 Palms is a rural town in the High desert. It is located 60 miles north of Palm Springs, and is most famously known as the community that supports the worlds largest Marine Corp Air Ground Combat and training center. We can look out our front porch an also be amazed at the beautiful Joshua Tree National Monument, famous for its Granite Boulders enjoyed by hikers and rock climbers from all over the world.

Both Rons parents and my parents retired in 29 palms and actually my grandparents were some of the original homesteaders to this community. Ron is working as the Director of maintenance and operations/facility planning and many other hats in our local school district.....and yes I am still working as a Nurse, educator for the last 35 years, but threaten to retire every year or "maybe one more year"? we love our laid back lifestyle. Winters in the warm desert and we spend our summers in Big Bear Calif in the cool lake and piney woods, just an hour from our home.

We happily enjoy our 4 grown children, their spouses and our 9 grandchildren..ages newborn to 18,with a few more yet to come I am sure we will make it to at least a dozen!  A grandparents job is the best!. As a family we are able to spend a lot of time together and we enjoy biking, jeeping, boating, motorcycle riding and especially traveling in our motorhome and we also, really love supporting our military friends and family and love to welcome them home, hug them, not to mention feed them as a small token of our appreciation for serving our country in these difficult times. Our community is always in need of volunteers and we do our part with our local youth, not to mention how the lord has blessed us with every needful thing, and we are grateful everyday.

My years at Yo-Hi were the best and truly I did not want to leave. When I relate to my friends and children about the "special group" or "xpats" as we would have been known by now, I truly still have great warm memories of that special time in my life.

So cheers to the class of 1964 and all who attend ....let the "fun begin"!  and for those who cant be with us...hugs to you and lets keep in touch!...............................
